The University of Missouri (Mizzou) is located centrally in the U.S. in Columbia, Missouri. You can fly to Columbia’s regional airport (COU) from several U.S. cities and arrive within 15 minutes of campus or take a less than two-hour shuttle ride from the international airport in St. Louis. Our lush, active campus was recently recognized as one of the most beautiful colleges in America by Architectural Digest — and we think you’ll agree.

WHY MIZZOU FITS YOU
Established in 1839, the University of Missouri has always been a leader in higher education. Mizzou was the first public university west of the Mississippi River, and is home to the world’s premier school of journalism. The concept of bringing alumni back to campus for homecoming originated at MU. As a flagship, land-grant institution, we are a campus where empathy, innovation and hard work combine to solve the world’s grand challenges. Mizzou is one of only 38 public universities in the Association of American Universities (AAU), an elite group of top-tier schools with outstanding reputations in teaching and research. Mizzou has experienced 11 straight years of research growth and has $509 million in annual research expenditures. Even as undergraduates, Mizzou students can contribute to world-class research on our vibrant campus. Our 95% student success rate proves that a Mizzou degree opens doors and provides graduates with great career options.

WELCOME TO COLUMBIA
Ranked among the best college towns in America, Columbia’s sense of community can’t be beat. And with campus nestled downtown, the fun is never far away. Get social at events and festivals that draw national and world-class talent, including True/False Film Fest and the outdoor concert series Central Bank Downtown Live! Plus, there’s a year-round farmers market, Art in the Park and spirited football Saturdays when The District is proudly decorated in black and gold. Love the outdoors? Run or ride on the scenic trails just off campus. Or indulge at one of many local eateries. You’ll also find student-friendly shopping, pubs, galleries and coffee shops nearby.

YOUR CAREER STARTS HERE
As a Mizzou student, you’ll have access to world-class undergraduate research, internship opportunities and professional job fairs. Which means you can start gaining relevant experience while earning a highly respected degree. Mizzou students find success by embracing our philosophy of hands-on learning, known as the “Missouri Method.” MU Career Center services include major exploration, help with resumes, interviews and job searches. After graduation, you’ll join our network of over 360,000 proud alumni living and working around the globe. And that’s just the start of your story.

LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE AND LEARN
Mizzou has more than 600 student organizations, including fraternities and sororities, academic interest clubs, sports and much more. STUDY TOGETHER, STAY TOGETHER
All Mizzou housing options are supportive environments designed to ease your transition to Mizzou. You can move in before International Student Welcome Week and stay in the halls year-round, including holiday and semester breaks. Freshmen can choose to be part of a small group based on academic interests, called a Freshman Interest Group (FIG). Your group will take classes together and a peer leader will introduce you to campus, share valuable resources that Mizzou offers, and introduce you to key faculty and staff on campus. International Student and Scholar Services offers a variety of resources to support international students. Services include: student visa assistance, immigration advising, document support services, pre-arrival and arrival services, compliance reporting and record keeping. These programs help students connect and flourish within the local community.
